Lunch Lady Land!!

This page contains the delicious workings of the wonderful lunch ladies at Daejeong Elementary School!! 🙂

December 20th, 2012- Seaweed soup, rice, broccoli (the first time I've had broccoli... EVER!), onions in sauce (again, not sure what kind), corn cheese (this is delish!! and so simple to make... I asked the lunch ladies with the help of my co-teacher), and processed fish noodles in some spicy sauce (I think that's what it is anyways)!!

December 14th, 2012- Some processed fish and veggie soup, rice, onions (these are soaked in a sauce and they are soooo good, but I have no idea what the sauce is- I'll have to figure it out!), fruit/veggie juice, fish (not a fan of this kind of fish! the bones and skin kind of freak me out), and some syrupy potatoes!!

December 5th, 2012- Some delicious noddle soup with veggies, meat and shrimp, mandu (which I've come to absolutely love since I've been here!), some kind of root vegetable, and apple milk!!

December 5th, 2012- Some delicious noddle soup with veggies, meat and shrimp, mandu (which I’ve come to absolutely love since I’ve been here!), some kind of root vegetable (they call it a turnip here and it is seasoned and put in vinegar… it’s very common here and not too bad), and apple milk!!

November 26th, 2012- Potato/carrot strings, rice, potato string soup, and pork with quail’s eggs… I pass on the quail’s eggs. Not too bad!

November 21st, 2012- A nice, hot, delicious bowl of chicken juk (rice porridge), orange juice, and an apple biscuit (hidden by the giant bowl of juk)!! Another job well done to the Ladies of Lunch Lady Land!!

November 20th, 2012- Spicy tofu mix, rice, dumpling soup (extra dumplings!), and I’m not sure what’s in the upper right corner… But it’s not bad. Another good lunch!!

November 14th, 2012- Cooked spicy tofu! Apples and melons in fruit mayo! Beef rice! And egg soup!! A fabulous lunch!!!

November 8th, 2012- Some mushroom soup, rice, a tad spicy tofu, and red bean paste breaded chicken! Pretty tasty! 🙂

October 31st, 2012- Warm noodle soup, yogurt milk, pancake bread (yummy!), and milk!

October 30th, 2012- Breaded mushrooms, rice, and pork bone soup (?). A pretty decent meal!

October 29th, 2012- Some pork in jajang sauce (yum!), rice, and yet another variation of seaweed soup. (Just to clarify… I’m really not exactly if all these “seaweed” soups are actually seaweed. It just looks like it to me, and until I’m told differently, that’s what I’m going to call them.)

October 25th, 2012- Some spicy chicken & rice cake noodles, salad with kiwi dressing (I LOVE THIS!), bean sprouts, rice, and one of the seaweed soups I’m not a big fan of.

October 15th, 2012- Some scrumptious marinated pork & veggies, seaweed soup, rice, milk, and apples & melons in a fruit mayonaise. (I’m not exactly sure what this sauce is on the apples and melons, but it is GOOD!)

October 9th, 2012- There is some processed fish and rice cake noodles covered in a delicious sauce made of ketchup, red pepper paste, and sugar. Also, some bean sprouts (which I’m slowly learning to like), a yummy crunchy dumpling, rice and some seaweed & beef soup! (I skipped the kimchi in the corner… Can’t handle that yet!)

September 19th, 2012 Curry and rice today!! Delicious! Along with some potatoes in the top left that tasted like they were marinated in sugar. And the other side is onions in some sauce… One of my favorite sides! I need to figure out how to make it.

September 12th, 2012 Delicious warm noodle soup with grapes (with hardly any seeds!!), spicy radish cubes (?), and a corn dog (aka hot dog). In Korea, they call hot dogs sausages and corn dogs are hot dogs.

July 13th, 2012 In the top center, I’m guessing it’s some kind of meatloaf (?) with some bbq sauce. It’s always pretty tasty! Then we got gim, which is seaweed paper that you wrap around your rice and eat… Yum! On the top right… Uh this was some kind of jelly tofu…? I’m not really sure, but that’s what my co-teachers said. Not a fan! And then some mushroom soup. According to my co-teachers, those little, skinny, white things in the soup are some kind of mushroom. True? Anyways, it’s pretty good!

July 9th, 2012 My favorite meal again!! The spicy shaved meat! I tend to always mix the main course with the rice to make the rice not so dry. And it takes some of the spiciness away from some of the foods that are a little too much for me. We also got one of the good soups today… I honestly have no idea what it is, but it tastes good!

June 18th, 2012 This is my favorite meal the lunch ladies serve!! It’s some sort of shaved meat with a little spice to it (kind of reminds me of bulgogi), lettuce (to wrap the meat in and eat), rice, some kind of mushroom soup I think, and the little things up in the corner (not sure what they are, but they are good)… Mmm so good! 🙂

June 11th, 2012 This is Eun-mi’s tray… Mine turned out blurry. I skipped on the kimchi, green stuff, and tomatoes. There was also one of the many variations of seaweed soup (not pictured).
